HCUMC Sponsors Seasonal Programs to Help Support Metrocrest Social Services

Angel Tree: This annual project supports Metrocrest Social Services by donating Christmas  gifts of toys and clothing to assist families in the community.  Members select paper angels from the Angel Tree, each angel, notes the age and gender of a child and a gift suggestion list.  Metrocrest uses these donated items at their holiday store where qualifying families select Christmas gifts for other family members.

Backpack Drive:  HCUMC sponsors an annual backpack drive to benefit Metrocrest Social Services, which gives the backpacks filled with school supplies to qualifying students before school starts each year.

Coat Drive:  Winter coats are collected from HCUMC members and local community as our youth go door-to-door collecting gently used coats.   Metrocrest distributes the coats at their holiday store for qualifying families.

Community Assistance Program (CAP):   In April 2008, the CHAP Program (Community HomePlace Assistance Program) was taken under the umbrella of services at Metrocrest Social Services changing the name to Community Assistance Program (CAP).  The mission of CAP is the same: To provide limited long-term support services to select families. in Carrollton, Farmers Branch, Addison and Coppell.  The Metrocrest Social Services professional staff will coordinate service delivery and approve use of funds while the volunteers from the community will serve as mentors, and financial coaches and will seek to coordinate community resources such as child care assistance and family counseling.

Food Drive:  Periodic food drives are organized during the year by HCUMC to re-stock and donate needed items for the Metrocrest Social Services Food Pantry.  Metrocrest provides food to qualifying families in our community.

Golf Tournament:  The Spiritual Journeymen of HCUMC coordinate an annual golf tournament benefitting Metrocrest Social Services and others.  Golfers, sponsors, and more are needed each year to make this golf tournament an annual success.
