Music NEWS

Hello everyone,
Yes, your music news is a little late this week.  41 kids and some 30+ adults and youth have been having a blask preparing "Table for Five...Thousand!"   We will also sing excerpts from this during worship on Sundayohnson is playing Benjamin, the boy that agrees to share his food with the masses that came to hear Jesus.  Come tomorrow at noon to see and hear  what the children have prepared this week. Recognize 5 loaves and two fish!  This was Thursdays snack prepared by Jana Jones and crew!

Just a few quick notes about your Music Ministry so that you can be in the know!

Choir Kick-off!
Planning has begun for our choirs to kick off the week of August 22.  Melanie Luce and I are in conversation about the best time for our children's choirs to meet.  Our options are Wednesday night at 6:30 or Sunday afternoons around 4:00.  Please email me at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it if you have a preference.  So far, Wednesday has the most votes.  We have a large group of 5th graders that would maybe benefit from their own choir since most of the other singers are younger.  Ideas? Interested in working with a children's choir?  let me know!

Adult Choir:
I am very excited about our newest members! Keep up the good work and continue to be invitational.  BASSES, where are you!  Our dedicated souls need some support.  We will continue to rehearse for the rest of the summer.  I am on vacation on August 11, but rehearsal will happen in my absence.  See below for anthem schedule...

Cabaret!
Rehearsals have begun with adults for our Annual Cabaret that happens on September 18 at 7:00 pm.  Our theme is "Songs from gLee."  Even if you don't watch the show, the music is fun and there is surely a style of music that you will enjoy both hearing and singing.  Contact Debbie Chapman at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it if you have questions.  Lots of hands will be needed to make this a good performance.  We need someone to do publicity.  We want to kick that up a notch.  Let us know if you'd like to do this.

Music Ministry Council: Please contact Debbie if you would be able to help me lead this great program.  There will be a leadership training in the fall and it would be important for our new chair to attend.  Jim McKee has been a wonderful support for us and I, personally, can't thank him enough for his leadership.  If you cannot help at this time, be prayerful about who might be hearing a call lead this ministry.  YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE A RINGER OR SINGER TO FILL THIS POSITION!  (just sayin')

Blessings to you all for a wonderful summer with safe travels.  Thank you for your leadership and support throughout the year!

Debbie

We got a wonderful thank you note from one of the nursing homes in Corpus. "Ringers and Singers!, You recently toured to Corpus Christi and we had the wonderful pleasure of hearing god's words through your music at our nursing home on June 24th.  Thank you for making a bright time in the often gray days for some of our residents.  Your music was medicine for the soul.  God's blessings always, Shirley Hartman, RN, Director of Nursing"

Have a great summer!

Music by Jane Marshall and John Thornburg

New date!
November 24-29
John Rutter Conducting
!
We will leave on the 24th to arrive in time to see the Macy's parade on November 25 (Thanksgiving).  Rehearsals begin the afternoon of Nov. 25 and the concert will be on Nov. 28.  We  return on Monday, November 29!
Consider again, whether you would like to go on this trip.  It is unfortunate that Michael's concert was canceled.  I am particularly sad for him.  This, however, is a great opportunity for us to sing with this world renowned conductor and composer of the "Gloria" that we performed at HC this past Christmas!
Contact Debbie if you are interested ASAP.  Deposits up to this point will be due May 1 and total $700.00.  Contact Debbie for more information and get your name on the list.  The lowest cost is for four to a room, but rooms are available at a higher cost if you do not want to share.
