Advocates for Justice and Peace
“He has told you, O mortal, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?”  Micah 6:8
Holy Covenant’s Advocates for Justice and Peace is a group of individuals seeking to live out the call to do justice by educating our congregation and community on justice and peace issues; providing resources for individuals or groups who want to be involved in justice ministries; and acting on local, national, and international justice issues as they arise.

What Do We Believe?

We believe all people –  regardless of age, race, gender, or sexual orientation –  deserve equal, compassionate, inclusive treatment.  We believe that God guides us to act on this belief and that we must act publicly to provide support to others – we need to challenge our society and work toward this dream as God leads us. Activities have included:

  • Raising relief funds for the victims of genocide in Sudan
  • Coordinating efforts to restore funding for children’s health insurance (CHIPS) in Texas
  • Educating the congregation/community on election and voting issues
  • Serving as a host location for Dallas Dinner Table
  • Hosting educational “Film Fests” in which documentary films are viewed, followed by group discussion over important justice issues
Meetings are held the 4th Monday of each month at 7:00pm in room EB 202.  For more information, see our events below or contact Rob Evans at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

2009 Dallas Dinner Table

 Holy Covenant UMC is proud to serve as a host location for The Dallas Dinner Table.  This year, fifteen participants from surrounding communities including Carrollton, Lewisville, Denton, and The Colony attended in the event.  Members of the Advocates for Justice and Peace committee prepared and served a delicious meal as participants dined and discussed important issues regarding race relations in our local communities, businesses, government, and schools.
The Dallas Dinner Table takes place each spring at various host locations throughout the Metroplex.  The dinners are designed to:
• Encourage communication about race relations and the impact of ethnicity on relationships;
• Educate participants about perspectives held by others related to race relations;
• Empower citizens to develop relationships with people from a variety of racial/ethnic groups.
If you are interested in attending a dinner next year, please visit The Dallas Dinner Table website for information.  If you are interested in helping the Advocates for Justice and Peace host the event at Holy Covenant, please contact Rob Evans at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
