English as a Second Language (ESL)
Acts 2:8-11   8 And how is it that we hear, each of us, in our own native language…them speaking about God’s deeds of power.’

Holy Covenant United Methodist Church provides ESL classes for people learning English.  By gaining a working knowledge of English, these individuals are able to more fully integrate into society. All classes are free. This is a conversation, grammar, and writing course designed to enable students to function in an English-speaking environment. Students learn the sounds of the language, English  grammar, Southwest regional labels and idioms, American culture and customs, business dialogue and etiquette, as well as necessary skills such as getting medical care, going shopping, applying for a driver’s license, and seeking employment. Students have different educational needs, and the voluntary instructors work in small groups or one-on-one whenever possible. The learning environment is cooperative, friendly, and Christian in nature.

ADULT MISSION TRIP

HOLY COVENANT SENDS SHEPHERDS TO GUATEMALA

In September, there will be a mission trip to Guatemala for the purpose of renovating an old deserted Methodist Church into a medical clinic in an effort to assist the community in administering good health and loving care to all its residents.  This is a wonderful opportunity to contribute and feel the warmth of love and care being transmitted to God’s children in another location.  All that is required is love for humanity and a desire to serve.  May we be “shepherds” by sharing our talents, help and love with them and helping them “grow their crops and care for their lambs” and by so doing, follow God’s will and share His love for all mankind.

Would you like to be  Shepherd or a helper?

UMC Special Projects

Bishop's Africa University Initiative
In I Corinthians 3:6, Paul writes: I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth. (NRSV) "Africa University has been built (planted), and I am hoping and praying that we, the North Texas Conference, will be Apollos, by watering the plant, but always mindful that it is God who give the growth."
