Prayer Calendar Insert
During the four Sundays of April, we will have a different Prayer Calendar in your bulletins with the names of all of the Holy Covenant families.  We ask that you take the Prayer Calendar home with you and place it either on you dining table or somewhere you can look at it throughout the week.

The purpose of the Prayer Calendar is to not only pray for individual families in our Congregation, but also to start praying about the Capital Campaign for our Church.  The name of the campaign is “Renewing Our Covenant”.  Please start praying about what you feel your role should be in not only renewing your relationship with God, but also what God is calling you to do to renew our Church and our discipleship to each other and to the community.

The artwork and quotes have been provided by the children of Holy Covenant.  They have responded to some basic questions that we might start asking ourselves as we kick off the Capital Campaign.  The firs week’s answers were brutally honest and some were full of joy.  Whatever your response, please spend time this week seeking God’s guidance in your role in “Renewing Our Covenant.”

Capital Campaign Collection Banks
We want to include children in our Capital Campaign!  On Sunday, April 20, all of the kids (toddler through 5th grade) at Holy Covenant will receive special banks during Sunday School.  They will be given an opportunity to decorate the banks and truly make them their own.
The children will be asked to bring the banks with them to worship on Sunday, May 11, which is Commitment Sunday.  We will have a special Children’s Time that day during both services, where the kids will bring their banks forward and leave them at the altar.
We do this in hopes of helping the kids understand what it means to give to God’s church with a  cheerful spirit!

Renewing Our Covenant

Renewing Our Covenant...

...To Restore Our Center for Ministry

My house shall be better than before.

Haggai 2:9

Dear Holy Covenant Family:

The name “Holy Covenant” is packed with meaning. Covenant means “promise.” The
ancient biblical word indicates both relationship and commitment. Covenant means, “You can count on me.”  The word  "holy" means sacred, set apart for God’s purpose. Thus, to declare ourselves a Holy Covenant is to proclaim that we are committed to one another for God’s good purpose.

As the people of Holy Covenant have dreamed, prayed, and engaged in holy conversation, we have discerned that God wants us to renew our covenant to be a church committed to radical hospitality, passionate worship, intentional faith development, risk-taking mission and service, and extravagant generosity.

One major step in this renewal is the rebuilding of our church facilities. It was never the intent of those faithful who built Holy Covenant from the ground up, that its buildings be allowed to deteriorate. Yet over time, because of limited resources and a dramatic increase of building use, we are faced with this very problem.  As a result of our holy conversation the members of Holy Covenant have concluded that it's time to restore our facilities in preparation for the next 30 years of ministry.

Renewing our Covenant is the title of our campaign to raise $600,000 to rebuild our church. When we are finished, we will have the equivalent of three new buildings. This newsletter describes our shared vision and commitment to be the church God is calling us to be. In the next few weeks, I invite you to join my family, our campaign leaders and the church family in praying for God’s guidance in your three-year pledge — over and above your regular giving — as a way to connect your faith and values to the mission of our church.

I know that Holy Covenant United Methodist Church is a blessing in your life, as it is in mine. I pray for a deepened understanding of Jesus’ command to share our blessings with others and celebrate the joy that comes in responding.

Shalom,
Don Lee
