Though school districts are starting the school year later, preparations begin early at MSS to be sure that children of eligible MSS clients will head off to the first day of classes as well-prepared as every other student in the building. The material and volunteer support of area businesses, faith groups, and individuals will surely make this dream a reality again this August when MSS will fit over 1,000 students with new shoes and provide 1,100 students with backpacks stuffed with school supplies. How can you help? HCUMC will be conducting our annual backpack drive. We have decided to focus on small backpacks because it is the item Metrocrest has the hardest time getting enough of to supply the need. Please purchase a small backpack suitable for ages 5-10 and place it in the boxes in the Narthex. We will be collecting backpacks through August 10th. Thanks in advance for helping those in need.
