Holy Covenant Youth News: June 2015

Holy Covenant Youth News!

Can y’all believe it’s almost summer?!  I sure can’t.  We’ve got some exciting events coming up that include the “Godspell” production that we’re hosting this coming Sunday, Confirmation Celebration on June 7th, and then VBS followed by Mission and Music “We Believe” Tour.  Please check out the dates and info below and respond accordingly!

For Sunday, June 7th we will have dinner at 5:30, and then head on over to North Texas Annual Conference Opening Worship at St. Andrew UMC in Plano, which starts at 7.  We need a few adults who are willing to drive us back and forth to this.

Godspell! Performed by St. Stephen UMC Youth May 31 (THIS Sunday!)

This group has been performing this play/musical for years and years.  They travel the area and the nation sharing this fun show.  We’re hosting the performance, but we’re also hosting a few other youth groups to enjoy the show, so we’ll have dinner first, then play some games together, then enjoy the show.  We’re hoping that we’ll have lots of our church members here as well so the audience will be any and all ages.  Tentative timeline looks like this:

Choir Tour Rehearsals- 4 pm

Dinner- 5 pm

Games and fun with other youth groups- 6 pm

Godspell performance- 7 pm

Redeemer Volleyball Tournament- Youth Division! June 13th

Our friends down the road at Redeemer Church have invited us to join their fundraiser Volleyball tournament on June 13th.  Waiting on exact times, but it will be mid morning til mid day, I imagine.  This will be fun time to get out in the sun (hopefully) and also maybe win some games!  Cost is $10 per person (cash due on day of event) and will be at the Volleyball court off the greenbelt by the Church.  We need at least 6 players for a team, so please let me know if your youth is interested and can attend.

We need  2 more Snack Suppers signed up for

It is by the generosity and kindness of youth parents that we’re able to offer a snack supper, since so many of our youth come from handbell and choir rehearsals straight to UMYF.  Please check out this calendar of dates needed, and sign up for a day.  Feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns, now or the week leading up to when you are preparing a meal.  Click here!  Big Shout out to Pam Hartzog for grabbing 2 summer dates!!

We Believe Mission and Music tour Parent Meeting this Sunday 6 pm!

We have locked in our dates to leave and come back, June 23-29.  We are working fervently on other details but we are really excited about what is on the books so far.  We anticipate the cost being $250 per person.  We need $50 deposits as soon as possible.  Then we’d love to have $100 in May and $100 in June.

Harvey’s Kids (June 13th and July 11th)

We’ve had some great participation in Harvey’s Kids, and would love to have more youth join us.  We’d love to have 3 HC Youth join us for every Harvey’s Kids, can you fit it in the schedule?!

New Youth Leaders (Is anyone out there?!)

As many of you know, Andrew Smith recently moved out of town and Melanie Luce will be stepping back once Taylor graduates.  We’re excited for the new opportunities for each of them, but that creates a need for new Youth Leaders for our group.  I KNOW some of you current parents are great, and have heard about some of our former youth parents that y’all are great as well.  Right now the primary time commitment would be Sunday evenings 6-8 pm for UMYF.  As we grow, we’ll consider other times and opportunities to experience community together.  If you’d like to talk about this with me further, let me know!
