Music News, December 15, 2015

“Child of Hope” went way beyond my expectations.  What a joy it was to face you and see your smiling and enthusiastic faces.  I even saw a few dance moves!  Small group -(Sheli, Sharon, Andrea, Melissa and Terry) Thank you so much for the extra work you put in. Those two songs were perfect for a group such as the one you put together. Rob Arruda did a fantastic job on the drums! We are glad he was able to play for us. Finally, Jonathan Kaan is the most gracious and talented person I have had the pleasure of working with.  Thank you, Jonathan, for all you do but especially for the gift this past Sunday!

Thank you also for the generous Christmas gift to Jonathan and me.  We are truly blessed.

This Wednesday, Dec. 16, is our last rehearsal of 2015.  Bells will rehearse at 6:30 pm and Choir at 7:30 pm.  We will not rehearse December 23 or 30. Rehearsals resume on January 6 (Wednesday groups) and January 10th (Sunday groups.

December 20th, the choir will sing “All is Well” at BOTH services.  We will be accompanied by oboe, flute, french horn, cello and piano.  Covenant Carillons will play “I Wonder as I Wander” at both services as well.  Bells should arrive at 7:30 and dress nice.  Choir members rehearse at 8:00 am.  Dress in Christmas colors.

December 24 – Members of the Adult Choir will lead worship at the 7:00 pm service where we will also have a string quartet play.  Arrive at 6:45 pm to run through our song prior to the service.

As Jonathan takes some time away, Bill Franklin and his friend, Kevin will accompany on December 27 when we will have only ONE service at 11:00.  There is no anthem on Dec. 27.  Bill Mauldin is preaching and Branda Mauldin is leading the singing.

On January 3, Gary Feltner will play for worship.  The Adult Choir will sing at 11:00 am, “We will Worship Him, too” from the Child of Hope Cantata.  Plan to sing at 11:00 on January 3!

Worship Design members should mark your calendars for a meeting after the 11:00 service on January 10.  We will plan for ushers, acolytes, altars, special services, etc through Easter.  Miles Olsen is our new chair.  Thanks! Melissa Marsh, for your leadership this past year.  Miles and I would like to form a Creative Arts Team. We will still need folks to do the nuts and bolts of weekly worship, but a team to think creatively will assist Carol and Debbie in making worship the best it can be.  If this is something you’d be interested in being a part of, let Debbie know before January 10.
