What is Happening This Week

8/21 – 8/27/2017

Dear Church,

This Saturday, August 26 we will have training for all worship leaders from 9 am to noon in the sanctuary. If you are interested in serving communion, leading Children’s Time, ushering, being a lay reader or if your child is interested in being an acolyte, make plans to attend this training.

This Sunday, August 27 all children are invited to bring their backpacks forward during Children’s Time at either worship service for a special blessing for the start of the school year. The Advocates for Justice & Peace will host Coffee with a Cop between worship services in the Covenant Center. Please plan to stop by for coffee and pastry and say “Hello” to a police officer.

Lunch Fundraiser

Going back to school this fall can feel overwhelming. To help you, we’ve got lunch covered! Come pick up a homemade lunch after the 11:00 service on September 17th. Scarlett Bayard will be offering lunch plates to go. Proceeds will help improve our kitchen and support the Susan G. Koman Breast Cancer Fund. Suggested donation is $10 per plate and $2 for garden salad. Menu is:

Handcrafted Meatball Marinara Garden Salad

Sign-up in the narthex. Checks can be made payable to HCUMC and of course cash is always accepted.

Looking for a meaningful volunteer opportunity? Give a child the gift of reading! Only 20 minutes a week gives a child the boost he or she needs to succeed. Holy Covenant’s SALT (Seek, Accept, Love, Transform) program pairs adult mentors with children in our local elementary schools. If you are interested in participating this school year, please contact Andrea Allen [email protected]
