What is Happening This Week
6/12- 6/17/2018
Dear Church
Holy Covenant will host a Parents’ Night Out this Friday, June 15th from 6 to 9 pm in the Covenant Center for ages infant to 5th grade. Reservations are required by Wednesday, June 13! Reserve a place for your child at hcumc.org. You may drop off and pick up children anytime during the designated hours. $10 per child; $25 max per same family.
The Sack Summer Hunger program starts this Saturday, June 16 and runs through August 11. We still need delivery drivers and people to distribute food to families in our area. You don’t have to do every Saturday. This is a great opportunity to involve the whole family and show your children how they can help show God’s love to others. Sign-up sheets are in the Narthex. Please help feed children this summer!
Shalom,
Pastor Carol

Social Justice Solstice Coffee
Saturday, June 23
9 to 11 am
Your Advocates for Justice & Peace invite you for coffee and a “Meet and Greet” with Kristin Houle, Executive Director of the TCADP (Texas Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty) on Saturday morning, June 23rd at Holy Covenant. Coffee and light snacks will be served from 9:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. This is your opportunity to interact informally with those who have distinguished themselves as exemplary leaders in this grass roots movement for Justice. The TCADP is celebrating 20 years of advocacy, and all statistics show tremendous progress, especially in the past 5 years. The North Texas Coordinator, Jim Webner, will also be with us. Embedded in the DNA of Holy Covenant is a history with fidelity to scripture, and to our Methodist tradition that requires us to Do Justice, Love Mercy, and Walk Humbly.

Fan Drive
We are collecting fans for Senior Citizens and others in need through June 24th. Please drop off your fans in the Narthex. We will transport the fans to Metrocrest Social Services who will distribute fans to those who need them. If you do not have time to go out and purchase a fan, we will be happy to do so for you. For $20 we can purchase a new box fan or an oscillating fan, so just note that your donation is for “Fans”.

Vacation Bible School – Shipwrecked
July 8-12, from 5:30 – 8:30 pm
You can now sign up for this summer’s VBS online at VBS 2018. VBS is for children 3years old through 5th grade and nursery is provided for all volunteers. Preschoolers will only attend the opening ceremony and two activity rotations. They will then just have nursery time after that (we could even put them in jammies for you). Our fun theme this year is Shipwrecked.
We will also offer a resource for parents called “Parenting with Grace and Reason”. This class combines tested parenting advice and how understanding it can also deepen our understanding for what it means to be a disciple of Jesus. That class will be 7:15-8:15pm each night, so take advantage of that opportunity.
Sports Camp
July 16-19
Triumph Sports will host a Christian Rookie Sport Camp here at Holy Covenant for 4-7 year olds from 8:30-11:30am. Cost is $80 if you sign up before June 1st. You can register at Triumph. This will be our first year working with them but they have a wonderful and long history with many of our fellow North Texas UMCs.
