Holy Covenant is providing breakfast at the Austin Street Shelter at 6:00 am on Sunday, November 3. We will provide breakfast for 400 men, women and children at the homeless shelter.

We will provide:
12 sandwiches (individually bagged)
12 pieces fruit
12 boiled eggs in shell in carton
Cases of bottled water/juice boxes
Snack/granola bars

We will receive all food donations on Saturday, November 2 from 9 am-noon in the HCUMC kitchen. All are welcome to travel with us to Austin Street on Sunday morning at 5:15 am from the HCUMC kitchen. We will drive to Austin Street, set up and serve breakfast. We will also collect retail plastic bags for the residents to carry their food because all residents must leave the shelter at 7:00 am. How You Can Help Local Tornado Victims

On Sunday, Oct. 20, a massive storm that blew through the Dallas area generated 10 confirmed tornadoes … including one EF-3. The tornadoes touched down in densely populated areas with winds reaching 140 mph, knocking out power to 150,000 electric customers.
The areas around Christ’s Foundry UM Mission and Walnut Hill UMC were among the hardest hit. Walnut Hill UMC’s building sustained damage, and the steeple was blown off.
Since then, first responders and emergency-management personnel have been assessing the damage. Dallas Fire-Rescue said 104 buildings were destroyed, 286 buildings have major damage and 344 have minor damage.

Ways to help:
• Donate funds to the NT Disaster Relief to meet the needs in the affected communities. Please type in “Dallas Tornado” in the memo box so funds are directed to the correct group. The donated fund will go toward buying gift cards for families to replace basic necessities. Funds can fill in the gaps between insurance and out-of-pocket expenses.
• Adopt a family. Many families are experiencing varying degrees of need. For example, some families have lost everything, and others need to replace a few items. If you or your small group are interested in adopting a family, email Rev. Andy Lewis.

Give to DISD. Several DISD schools sustained a partial or total loss. Children have been funneled to other schools. The school district needs to replace supplies and equipment. More Information.
DISD is also accepting small boxes of new school supplies, which can be dropped off at the three following locations Monday–Friday from 8 a.m.–5 p.m.
