HEADlines: Praying for 2019 General Conference
By Rev. Keith L. Head
Last Sunday we prayed for our sisters and brothers across The United Methodist Church and especially those who will represent us as delegates to the 2019 Special Session of the General Conference in St. Louis, Missouri, this week, February 23-26. We also requested that the Holy Covenant congregation pray for the conference at least four minutes daily at 2:23 p.m. to 2:26 p.m. (or 2:23 a.m. to 2:26 a.m.) until the close of the conference on February 26.
I also said that I would provide some links to better understand the choices facing the delegates that may ultimately decide whether or not we will remain “United” Methodists. So, here are three links that I hope can provide you more information about those choices. The first link is to a letter from our Bishop Michael McKee to you and all the other United Methodists in our North Texas Conference. The second link is to a summary of the four plans that will be considered at the General Conference (a hard copy of the handout is also available at the church). The third link is to the UMC.org webpage that has more information, resources and a link to the live streaming of the sessions that begins at 9:00 a.m. CST, Saturday, February 23.
We hope you will find this information and web links helpful:
