What is Happening This Week 6/3-6/6/21

Summer activities are upon us!

We have hosted summer camp for our little preschoolers. Such fun to have their voices in the building and on the playground!

This Saturday we are delivering lunches to families in the neighborhood through the Summer Sack Hunger food deliveries.

And the new HVAC systems are being installed so the AC will be cool and the air clean at HCUMC.   We hope part of your summer will be joining us for worship (8:30 outside, 10:30 sanctuary & livestreaming). The summer worship will include your favorite requested hymns and some favorite books and Bible stories.

We would love you to be a part of our worship. We will begin this week with reflecting on prayer through the lens of a favorite book of mine, Granddad’s Prayers of the Earth by Douglas Wood.   I will look forward to greeting you on Sunday!

Shalom Blessings,
Pastor Cheryl

HCUMC will participate in the Sack Summer Hunger Program again this summer distributing free, nutritious and easy-to-prepare meals to families with school-aged children who depend on free and reduced lunch programs throughout the school year. Meals are delivered every Saturday during the summer to families in our community. The program begins June 5th and lasts through July 31st.

We need volunteers to help pick up food from Metrocrest as well as deliver to the families. The commitment is no more than 2 hours on Saturday morning. If you have questions, email Ashley Norris at [email protected]

fan Fan Drive
Collecting now through June 22
As we are all aware, the days are getting hotter and the need increases for fans to keep our neighbors cool. The HCUMC Missions Committee is working with Metrocrest Social Services to ensure that fans are provided to those that are most in need. Donations are being accepted now until June 22. We can purchase a box fan for under $20. We are happy to accept any donation amount, which will then be combined with other donations to purchase fans for Metrocrest to distribute to those in need. A monetary donation can be given via check or as an online donation. Please note ‘fan drive’ on your check or online donation form. If you would prefer to purchase a fan and bring it to the church, please place it in the narthex and the fans will be delivered to Metrocrest.

Thank you Holy Covenant for again helping to meet the needs in our community. Past recipients have expressed sincere appreciation for the fans that help them stay cool in the Texas summer heat.
