What is Happening This Week 1/19-1/22/23

Beloved Community!

We are in a week of prayer for Christian Unity. There will be a worship service this evening at Custer Road UMC in Plano at 7:00. Together Lutheran, Presbyterian, Episcopalian and Catholic siblings will join the Methodists in worshipping God. All are welcome!

On Sunday we will consider how we pray. We will share some ways your prayer life might be enhanced. Our Gospel reading will be Matthew Chapter 6.

I will look forward to greeting you on Sunday.

Shalom Blessings,
Pastor Cheryl

New Book Study
Starting in February
Blessings, Holy Covenant Family! Join me in a three-part book study of Brené Brown’s The Gifts of Imperfection where she will take us through her ten guideposts of whole-hearted living, a practice defined by courage and compassion towards self and others. Brené is a research professor at the University of Houston, where she holds the Huffington Foundation Endowed Chair. She has spent the past two decades studying courage, vulnerability, shame, and empathy. She is the author of six #1 New York Times best sellers, and she is the host of the weekly Spotify original podcasts Unlocking Us and Dare to Lead.

Once we have an idea of who is interested, we will choose a weekday evening that works best for the group. I will be hosting this in my home, with the first meeting the week of February 13th. I look forward to standing beside you as we explore issues that keep us from being our very best selves – the ones God is calling us to be. Please email me ([email protected]) if you have an interest in joining me in this journey.

Shalom,
Melissa Beard

During a 40-min period, participants will gain insight into what life is like living in poverty and be exposed to structural barriers that shape the day-to-day of individuals experiences homelessness and poverty. The activity is completed with an open discussion facilitated by CitySquare staff members. Please consider bringing a snack/drink to share with the group. Group size is limited so sign up soon!
