What is Happening This Week 10/19-10/22/23

            Beloved Community,  
Hope you have come by the pumpkin patch! We have had lots of fun with those of you volunteering – THANK – YOU – and those purchasing. Our home will be filled with pumpkins of all sizes!  

The Pumpkin Patch is open this weekend with some very special events:
Friday 7:15 Movie night – It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown
Saturday 11:30-12:30 Cinderella!
7:30 Fall Fun and S’mores!
Sunday 1-2 Princess Peach!  

On Sunday we will gather for Sunday School classes followed by 10:30 Worship. We are continuing our God on Broadway Series with a celebration of Mary Poppins! We will celebrate Children’s Sabbath with a witness from the Confirmation Class and the children participating in the singing.  

The construction on the welcome center is continuing, so please pardon the dust!   Looking forward to greeting you on Sunday!

Pumpkin Patch

HCUMC is hosting a pumpkin patch this year! The pumpkin patch will support the church, have a positive impact on the community, and will be a fun way to get involved! We cannot do it without you!  
We still need to fill the following volunteer slots:
10/24 3:30-5:30
10/25 1:30-3:30
10/27 3:30-5:30
10/31 1:30-3:30, 3:30-5:30, and 5:30-7:30

Food Pantry
Pantry Hours:
Tuesday-Thursday from 10-2 
2nd and 4th Sundays from 12-1 pm  

We currently need: soups, pasta, peanut butter and dry pet food.  
For our Thanksgiving bags, we need: Instant mashed potatoes, yams, cream of mushroom soup, stuffing mix, canned fried onions, turkey gravy, pie filling and refrigerated pie crusts.  

Donations may be dropped off Tuesdays through Thursdays between 10:00 am and noon. In addition to that, we accept donations on Sundays before and after worship. There will be carts outside the Pantry for your donations.

The Missions Team thanks you for always being there to support the Food Pantry with your donations, your time, and your prayers.

Bring your friends, family and your favorite games! Everyone is welcome. Dinner will be a Nacho Bar, so please sign up HERE to let us know what you can contribute. Donations toward dinner expenses (utensils, beverages, etc.) are also appreciated.

Austin Street Food Collection
Saturday, October 28
9 am to Noon
Holy Covenant Kitchen  
Holy Covenant is scheduled to again provide breakfast for the homeless at Austin Street Shelter.  If you are able to donate food, please prepare 12 sandwiches, 12 pieces of fruit and 12 hard-boiled eggs and deliver them to Holy Covenant on Saturday, October 28th, between 9 am and noon. Bottled water and juice boxes are also appreciated. Please drive around to the kitchen door where members of the Spiritual Journey Class will receive the donations from you.  

Austin Street has raised the total number of beds from 400 to 500 this year so the need for food has increased. Please contact Rick Davis (972-814-5325 [email protected]) with any questions.

We need the following for the HCUMC Community Clothes Closet:
-Men’s clothes (all sizes)
-Larger sized adult clothing (XL and up)
-Children’s clothes (especially toddler)
-Shoes (all sizes, specifically work shoes, heavy duty shoes)
-New underwear (all sizes, adults and kids)
-New socks (all sizes, adults and kids)
-Mini shampoo, conditioner, soap, toothpaste, lotion
-Hangers  

Please bring clothes to the church office Tuesday – Thursday between 10 am and 2 pm or Sunday mornings.

Annual Lunch & Auction
Sunday, November 5

Please join us for a meal prepared by our own Kammie Powell immediately following the 10:30 service on Sunday, November 5th. We will gather for some good food, great company, and bidding fun!   

The date is fast approaching and, as always, we count on you for donations to make our auction happen. We need items like gift baskets, gift cards, game tickets, etc. If you have other items you would like to donate, please contact Melissa Beard at [email protected].  

Holy Covenant is Having a Birthday Celebration!
2024 will be Holy Covenant’s 50th anniversary and we will celebrate April 13-14, 2024. We invite you to celebrate your church when you celebrate your birthday. Whenever your birthday falls, consider making a gift to HCUMC. Just mark your gift “Birthday Offering” and put it in the offering plate on Sunday or give ONLINE.
