Andy Lewis, former pastor of HCUMC, and current Director of Missional Outreach and Assistant to the Bishop will join us during the Sunday School hour in the sanctuary. Andy will be sharing his work with churches that have disaffiliated, the past and future General Conferences and the hope for all that lies ahead in the UMC. Please join us at 9:15. Rev. Here is what we will cover each Sunday! July 2 – How did we get here? The first Sunday of the series will be an overview of what we will be talking about for the month. July 9 – Queer Theology We will cover the theology of LGBTQ issues. July 16 – The Bible: Dealing with “the Clobber Verses” There are several verses in the bible that people use to oppress, exclude and hurt LGBTQ people. July 23 – The Methodist Church and LGBTQ People This session will be taught by Rev. Andy Lewis. July 30 – The Future What is the future of the Methodist church? Our church? If you plan to attend, please sign up HERE and tell us what you can bring. ![]() Breakfast for Austin Street Food Collection Saturday, July 29 9 am to Noon Holy Covenant Kitchen Holy Covenant is scheduled to again provide breakfast for the homeless at Austin Street Shelter. If you are able to donate food, please prepare 12 sandwiches, 12 pieces of fruit and 12 hard-boiled eggs and deliver them to Holy Covenant on Saturday, July 29th, between 9 am and noon. Bottled water and juice boxes are also appreciated. Please drive around to the kitchen door where members of the Spiritual Journeymen will receive the donations from you. Austin Street has raised the total number of beds from 400 to 500 so the need for food has increased. The Spiritual Journey Class will deliver the food to Austin Street Saturday afternoon. Please contact Rick Davis (972-814-5325 [email protected]) with any questions. ![]() Jazz Quintet Concert – Mexican Sound: A Jazz Symbiosis Saturday, July 29 7 pm HCUMC Sanctuary Arturo Palafox–musician, pianist, arranger, composer, creator of his own style of making music–will play his original music, a mixture of Mexican tunes and jazz. He will be joined by Efren Guzman on drums, Pete Clagett on trumpet, Kris Berg on bass and Julian Sutherland on saxophone. The concert is free, but a love offering supporting HCUMC Music Ministries will be collected. You can give in advance HERE. ![]() Our Community Clothes Closet currently needs hangers. Please drop them by the church office if you have some to donate. ![]() 2024 will be Holy Covenant’s 50th anniversary and we will celebrate April 13-14, 2024. We invite you to celebrate your church when you celebrate your birthday. Whenever your birthday falls, consider making a gift to HCUMC. Just mark your gift “Birthday Offering” and put it in the offering plate on Sunday or give ONLINE. ![]() Pantry Hours: Tuesday-Thursday from 10-2 2nd and 4th Sundays from 12-1 pm We currently need: soups, chili, canned chicken, mac & cheese and dry pet food. Donations may be delivered Tuesdays through Thursdays between 10:00 am and noon. In addition to that, we accept donations on Sundays before and after both worship services. There will be carts outside the Pantry for your donations.
