What is Happening This Week 5/16-5/19/24

Beloved Community,

Sunday is Pentecost! Be sure to wear RED!

We know the Holy Spirit is very present here at Holy Covenant! We will celebrate The Spirit that arrives with WIND and FIRE as we receive our Confirmation Class. They have been learning and growing in their faith for this past year and are now ready to step forward to join the church!  Four of our confirmands will be baptized. You are invited to join our church family for a potluck lunch afterwards. We will have chicken provided, so please bring sides! Hope you will be here to join in on the great celebration of these amazing young people!

If God is encouraging you to become a member of Holy Covenant, you may join our church on Sunday as well!

I look forward to greeting you on this very special Sunday ~ you won’t want to miss it! Join us for worship, fellowship and yummy food!

Shalom Blessings,
Pastor Cheryl Murphy

HCUMC is participating in the Sack Summer Hunger Program again this summer, providing nutritious, easy-to-prepare meals to families with school-aged children who depend on free and reduced lunch programs throughout the school year. Meals are delivered every Saturday free of charge. This program is facilitated by Metrocrest Services who, in conjunction with area churches, supports local families in our community.

The program begins June 1st and lasts through July 27th. We need drivers to pick up food from Metrocrest, someone to sort the bags for delivery, drivers to deliver to the families and someone to return any leftover food to Metrocrest. The commitment is no more than 2 hours (between 8 am and noon) on Saturday morning. If you have questions, email Laulie Eckeberger at [email protected]. Sign up HERE!

Join us for Compassion Camp 2024! Through Compassion Camp: What Every Living Thing Needs, participants will explore what all living things need to live—shelter, food, water, air, and community—and how they can have compassion for the living earth, especially in their local ecosystems. Through awareness, gratitude, wonderment, reciprocity, and kinship, participants will consider how to become co-sustainers and participants in the work of God’s creation. Using Psalm 104 as the grounding text, along with additional supporting scripture, participants will closely examine the interconnectedness of the whole earth—humans alongside the more-than-human world.
