What is Happening This Week 8/29-9/1/24
Beloved Community! Presently I am sitting in a beautiful library at Austin Presbyterian Seminary prayerfully focusing on God’s inspiring messages for Holy Covenant worship over the next month! The journey is always both lovely and full of substantial burdens. Tomorrow I will be crafting our Sunday worship service on Grace from this holy space! The Lord will be inviting you by name to His Table, a journey of holiness and grace for each of us. We will be reflecting on the words in Ephesians 2 addressing the gift of grace for each of us from God. The Wesleyan Choir will be with us following their summer break. We have some wonderful Sunday School classes that would love your participation beginning at 9:15. I will be in the Shalom Center at 9:30 if you would like to join me for a cup of coffee. On this long Labor Day weekend, may you find at least one day of Sabbath rest and your way to be greeted by me on Sunday! Coming Soon Screening of “1946” Monday, September 9 6:45 pm in the Sanctuary 1946: The Mistranslation That Shifted Culture is a feature documentary that follows the story of tireless researchers who trace the origins of the anti-gay movement among Christians to a grave mistranslation of the Bible in 1946. It chronicles the discovery of never-before-seen archives at Yale University which unveil astonishing new revelations, and casts significant doubt on any biblical basis for LGBTQIA+ prejudice. Featuring commentary from prominent scholars as well as opposing pastors, including the personal stories of the film’s creators, 1946 is at once challenging, enlightening, and inspiring. The Enneagram Journey Tuesdays at 12:30 pm Room 211 Starting September 10 We will go through The Path Between Us: An Enneagram Journey to Healthy Relationships. Most of us have no idea how others see or process their experiences. And that can make relationships hard, whether with intimate partners, with friends, or in our professional lives. Understanding the motivations and dynamics of these different personality types can be the key that unlocks sometimes mystifying behavior in others―and in ourselves. Get the book! Get Your HC Merch!
