Beloved Community! Hope you are planning on heading east this evening to join us at the Plano Balloon Festival to see our very own Luis Rodriguez conduct the Plano Symphony Orchestra. The gates open at 5:00 pm (there is a charge for parking & entry – I will be parking at FUMC Plano). At 6:00 pm the Texas Parachute Team will jump out of planes! The orchestra plays as the balloons glow at 7:30. And if you can stay late, there will be a Light Up the Sky Drone Show at 8:45. I will be in my Holy Covenant T Shirt – see you there! On Sunday, we will have our third God on Broadway worship celebration, Beauty and the Beast. The New Testament scripture will be Lydia’s story in Acts 16 offering invitation and hospitality! Spring Creek Pkwy Thursday, September 19 7:30 pm Our own Luis Rodriguez will serve as conductor of the Plano Symphony Orchestra for this outdoor concert! Gates open at 5 pm and the concert starts at 7:30 pm. Be sure to come early as attendance will be high. Cost is $10 for adults, $5 for kids (3-12) and seniors (65 and up), and covers entrance to the festival as well as the concert. Purchase tickets online HERE and you can skip the line at the Ticket Sales Tent. Listen for some favorite songs and discover the stories in a new light. Clothes Closet Needs The HCUMC Community Clothes Closet is very low on all items. We currently need the following: -Men’s clothes -Women’s clothes -Children’s clothes -Shoes (all sizes) -New underwear and socks (all sizes) -Mini shampoo, conditioner, soap, toothpaste, lotion Please bring clothes to the church Tuesday – Thursday between 10 am and 2 pm or Sunday mornings. Highlights Next Week Empowered Living: Strategies for Thriving Tuesday, September 24 6-7:30 pm in the Covenant Center Pastor Cheryl invites women to join her for a monthly program that will reflect on the best part of our lives moving from surviving to thriving. We will have guest speakers addressing different aspects of our lives. Join us Tuesday, September 24 from 6 -7:30 pm for a light dinner and program. Everyone is welcome. A love offering will be collected for food. Donations toward dinner expenses can also be made on the church website and are appreciated. Unloading Pumpkins Sunday, September 29 11:30 am – immediately after worship It’s time to set up the Pumpkin Patch again! All ages are asked to help unload pumpkins from the truck to the parking lot. Coming Soon Pumpkin Patch Starting September 30 Mondays – Fridays 1 – 7 pm Saturdays 9 am – 7 pm Sundays 11 am – 7 pm It’s almost pumpkin time again at HCUMC! We will need volunteers to unload pumpkins after worship on Sunday, September 29th. Please plan to stay and help! The pumpkin patch supports the church, has a positive impact on the community, and is a fun way to get involved! We cannot do it without you! Please sign up HERE for a 2-hour volunteer slot! Food Pantry Pantry Hours: Tuesday-Thursday from 10-2 2nd and 4th Sundays from 12-1 pm We currently need soups, peanut butter, pasta sauce, canned chicken and pet food. Donations may be dropped off Tuesdays through Thursdays between 10 am and 2 pm. In addition to that, we accept donations on Sundays before and after worship.
