What is Happening This Week 9/5-9/8/24

Subject: What is Happening at Holy Covenant This Week
Beloved Community!

The cooler rainy weather this week has been such a welcome change! All the grass, trees and fading summer flowers seem to be coming back to joyous life!

You are invited to give the gift of life this Sunday as the Carter BloodCare Donor Coach will be in our parking lot. Please take a few minutes to offer this precious gift!

On Monday evening at 6:45 we will gather in the Sanctuary to watch “1946”. This is our second showing of this wonderful documentary. Hope you will join us for the movie and conversation afterwards!

We begin our God on Broadway series this Sunday. We will be celebrating Wicked! So if all the weekend high school and college football games or US Open Tennis aren’t holding your attention, watch Wicked pulling out the many themes that we could reflect on during worship. I will be focusing on Paul’s words in Romans 12:14-21, “Don’t let evil get the best of you; get the best of evil by doing good!”

I look forward to greeting you on Sunday morning and Monday evening!

Shalom Blessings,
Pastor Cheryl

Highlights Next Week

Screening of “1946”
Monday, September 9
6:45 pm in the Sanctuary
1946: The Mistranslation That Shifted Culture is a feature documentary that follows the story of tireless researchers who trace the origins of the anti-gay movement among Christians to a grave mistranslation of the Bible in 1946. It chronicles the discovery of never-before-seen archives at Yale University which unveil astonishing new revelations, and casts significant doubt on any biblical basis for LGBTQIA+ prejudice. Featuring commentary from prominent scholars as well as opposing pastors, including the personal stories of the film’s creators, 1946 is at once challenging, enlightening, and inspiring.

The Enneagram Journey
Tuesdays at 12:30 pm
Room 211
Starting September 10
We will go through The Path Between Us: An Enneagram Journey to Healthy Relationships. Most of us have no idea how others see or process their experiences. And that can make relationships hard, whether with intimate partners, with friends, or in our professional lives. Understanding the motivations and dynamics of these different personality types can be the key that unlocks sometimes mystifying behavior in others―and in ourselves. Get the book!
