WHO WE ARE
We are a United Methodist Church which means we are part of a church that has and is still evolving. Our first church community was started in America in 1784 and has undergone membership growth, denominational divisions and interdenominational mergers.
We are currently a worldwide church with a collective membership of 7.7 million members in 43,000 local churches. With each congregation being a reflection of our diversity, we do have common foundational beliefs.

Who is the United Methodist Church?
-
God, who is one, is revealed in three distinct persons of God, Son, and Holy Spirit.
-
God is the creator of all and is ever creating bringing life and hope continually.
-
God became human in Jesus of Nazareth; and his life, death and resurrection demonstrates God's redeeming love.
-
God comes as the Holy Spirit in the present to lead, challenge, support or comfort us.
-
We are made in the image of our Creator. Like God we have the capacity to love, to communicate, and to create.
-
The church is the body of Christ, an extension of Christ’s life and ministry in the world today.
-
The Bible is God’s Word and is the primary authority for our faith and practice.
-
The Sacraments, baptism and Holy Communion, are instituted by Christ and made actual through the power of the Holy Spirit to bring the fullness of God's grace to all who partake.
-
The Kingdom of God is both a present reality and future hope
Who is Holy Covenant?
-
We believe in a God who is ever-creating, ever-connecting, and always inviting us into deeper love and shared power. God is not distant or exclusive—God is the vibrant force of creativity, relationship, and liberation alive in the world today.
-
We follow Jesus Christ, God made flesh, who embodied radical love and made it possible for all people to experience joy, justice, hope, and healing. No exceptions.
-
The Holy Spirit moves within us and among us, calling us to move beyond individualism toward community, equity, and compassion.
-
We affirm that every human being is created good and made in the image of God. This means every person of every race, gender identity, sexual orientation, body, ability, and background is sacred, worthy, and capable of reflecting God's love.
-
We believe the Church is the living, breathing presence of Christ in the world today. At Holy Covenant, that means we are called to be love, to show up for one another, to build meaningful relationships, and to stand in solidarity with the marginalized. We take seriously Jesus’ commandment: "Love the Lord your God… and love your neighbor as yourself." (Luke 10:27)
-
The Bible is our sacred story—a diverse and living testimony to the relationship between God and humanity. We engage Scripture with open minds and open hearts, seeking guidance, wisdom, and justice.
-
We celebrate the sacraments of baptism and communion as powerful signs of God’s grace, inclusion, and beloved community. Through them, we are reminded that we are never alone and always loved.
-
We believe the Kingdom of God is already breaking in—here and now. Every act of justice, inclusion, and compassion is a glimpse of God's dream for the world.
-
At Holy Covenant, we are building a church where everyone can belong, grow, and be transformed. We are unapologetically inclusive, LGBTQ-affirming, and justice-minded—because we believe God’s love is for everyone.
Come as you are. Be who you are. You are welcome here.
