What is Happening This Week 4/18-4/21/24

            Beloved Community,
The 50th Anniversary weekend was AMAZING!  Thank you one and all for the many ways you participated!

This Sunday we will gather to honor God’s Creation! Hope you will join us as we celebrate the beauty of Earth and reflect on the responsibility we each have as caretakers!

Please take note of some very important General Conference information below.

I look forward to greeting you on Sunday!

Shalom Blessings,
Pastor Cheryl Murphy

GENERAL CONFERENCE DETAILS
This global holy conferencing begins in Charlotte, NC on April 23rd. If you are new to the United Methodist family and would like to have a clearer understanding of what the General Conference is, please join me in the Shalom Center this Sunday at 9:30 am. We will not be discussing the issues, but reviewing the importance of conferencing in our global church.  The GC will be held in Charlotte from April 23 – May 3. There will be 682 delegates from United Methodist Conferences from all corners of the world. This is the delayed 2020 conference. Representing our North Texas Conference will be four clergy and four laity elected during Annual Conference.

HERE is a video message from Bishop Ruben Saenz Jr. regarding General Conference.

Please join the NTC members praying for the meetings by signing up for Tuesday, April 30 to pray for 30 minutes. Your prayers will be for the holy work of the delegates and conference. Sign up HERE

You can find details, the schedule and other important information at  www.ntcumc.org/GC2020

If you want a deeper understanding of the GC, there are two videos that I highly recommend. In the first you will meet delegates from the NTC & the Central Texas Conferences. The second is a conversation with our District Superintendent Rev. Edlen Cowley and Rev. Philip Rhodes, a pastor from the CTC. Both explain the legislation that will be brought to the floor, and the way you can stay informed.
