WE ARE AN EASTER PEOPLE What does it mean for us to be a people of Easter? It means we believe that God is not dead! God is not an obsolete ideal of our forefathers but rather an on-going creative, loving and healing force in our world today. We further believe that as disciples of Jesus Christ we are agents of this redemptive God. Therefore, we believe that our very lives are extensions of God’s grace for all who abide on earth. This is a huge call to a huge mission but this is the ideal of being a people who believe that God can conquer even death to make love real for all the world. Over the next six weeks, we are going to explore the tasks, principles and actions that transform our belief into truth and our faith into action.    April 5th          Easter Sunday Theme: Christ the Lord is … Read More

Holy Week and Easter 2015

Holy Covenant UMC Holy Week and Easter 2015 What Happen During Holy Week?   Holy Week offers us the time for reflective meditation as we journey with Christ to and release from the cross so that our hearts and minds are prepared to truly and authentically receive the gift of Easter.   Sunday: Jesus entered through gates of Jerusalem riding on the colt of a donkey. Message from Pastor Carol: April 1, 2014

Hello Church, With the imposition of ashes on our foreheads March 5th, we began a 40-day journey crossed by six Sundays to Easter, April 20th. So, we are in the midst of our Lenten journey. How is it going for you? How have you faced the temptations? How have you handled defeat? What have you learned about God? What have you learned about yourself? Tough questions for sure but we are better for having asked them. Lent is not just a Christian exercise on the calendar of darkness and sacrifice. It is also a time of discovery, intimacy and hope! The more we engage this spiritual process, the more we come to know God and be known by God. Holy Week is another opportunity to submit to the process of spiritual transformation. Paying attention to the power of the events of the last week of Jesus’ life has the potential … Read More
