Beloved Community, Rejoice always. Pray continually. Give thanks in every situation because this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. 1 Thessalonians: 16-18 Hope and pray you have lots of reasons to rejoice & give thanks over the next few weeks! I am rejoicing that I am a part of this holy community! Your presence, your light, your passion is a faithful witness to me every day! I am so thankful for each of you being in my life and part of our beloved community! We will be celebrating Thanksgiving and generosity this Sunday in worship. Hope you will join us! Thank you for the many ways you have been generous to the food pantry. These November weeks have allowed us to send people home with bags of food for the week and the Thanksgiving holiday! Highlight This Week Angel Tree November 19 – December 10 Make plans to support our Angel Tree this year. Each angel on the tree will represent a child in need in our area. Please take one (or more!) and give a monetary donation or purchase Walmart or Amazon $25 gift cards. We will also accept cash donations to buy gift cards on your behalf. Clothes Closet Needs We need the following for the HCUMC Community Clothes Closet: -Coats (all sizes) -Men’s clothes (all sizes) -Baby clothes -Shoes (all sizes, specifically work shoes, heavy duty shoes) -New underwear (all sizes) -New socks (all sizes) -Mini shampoo, conditioner, soap, toothpaste, lotion Please bring clothes to the church office Tuesday – Thursday between 10 am and 2 pm or Sunday mornings. Highlights Next Week Thanksgiving Service Project Tuesday, November 21 9:30 – 11:30 am in the Covenant Center Let’s do some service in honor of Thanksgiving! We will pack snack bags for LovePacs, a nonprofit that provides food and snacks to local schools for kids that are in need. We will also assist the HCUMC Food Pantry in packing food bags! We will be taking donations of small bags of goldfish and granola bars! Bring donations to the church on Sunday! Dinner & Game Night Friday, November 24 6-9 pm in the Covenant Center Bring your friends, family and your favorite games! Everyone is welcome. Dinner will be a Nacho Bar, so please sign up HERE to let us know what you can contribute. Donations toward dinner expenses (utensils, beverages, etc.) can be made on the church website and are also appreciated. Food Pantry Pantry Hours: Tuesday-Thursday from 10-2 2nd and 3rd Sundays from 12-1 pm (in November and December) We currently need: soups, canned pinto beans, canned black beans, pasta sauce and dry pet food. For our Holiday bags, we need: Instant mashed potatoes, yams, cream of mushroom soup, stuffing mix, canned fried onions, turkey gravy, pie filling and refrigerated pie crusts. Donations may be dropped off Tuesdays through Thursdays between 10:00 am and noon. In addition to that, we accept donations on Sundays before and after worship. There will be carts outside the Pantry for your donations. We thank you for always being there to support the Food Pantry with your donations, your time, and your prayers. Holy Covenant is Having a Birthday Celebration! 2024 will be Holy Covenant’s 50th anniversary and we will celebrate April 13-14, 2024. We invite you to celebrate your church when you celebrate your birthday. Whenever your birthday falls, consider making a gift to HCUMC. Just mark your gift “Birthday Offering” and put it in the offering plate on Sunday or give ONLINE. Coming Soon Blood Drive Sunday, December 3 9:30 am – 12:30 pm Carter BloodCare will be accepting donations in our parking lot. Donors in December will receive a fleece blanket. Please considering donating! Advent Festival & Craft Fair Sunday, December 3 11:30 am – 1:30 pm Join us for our annual Advent Festival to kick off the Advent season! We will have lunch, games, and crafts! The kids and youth will be putting on a Pop Up Lil’ Flea Market, this time, Christmas themed! Come by to get your homemade Christmas ornaments, cards, treats and more!
